Samsung aims to up handset sales in 2010

Samsung Electronics one of the largest mobile handset makers aims to sell 270 million handset units in 2010, up 19 per cent from a year earlier. Considering the fact that most research firms expect the mobile phone market to grow 6-7 percent in 2010, the handset shipment growth aimed by the company is more than double that of the market average.

Smartphone’s and touch screen phones will lead growth in developed markets such as North America and Europe, while demand for regular handsets in emerging markets will also recover.

Earlier last month, Nokia, which is the world’s biggest maker of mobile phones, posted fourth quarter profit larger than the estimates. Also, LG Electronics Inc. declared that it aims to increase shipments of its phones 20 % this year and introduce about 20 smart phone models. It seems that the three giants are all geared up to lead the way in 2010! So one can surely expect more exciting offers this year!
